Windows is not available in this release. No release date is promised.
Not released Install the desktop app.
Choose a download above and check its listed system requirements.
- Choose your computer. On a Mac, open Apple menu → About This Mac. Choose Apple Silicon if it lists a Chip; choose Intel if it lists an Intel Processor. On Windows, check Settings → System → About against the listed Windows requirements. The Windows download is for x64; it is not a native ARM64 build.
- Use the file in Downloads. On a Mac, find the download in Finder. Open the DMG, or extract the ZIP, then copy the Cloth & Colour app to Applications and open it there. A browser view showing Contents, Frameworks or Info.plist is displaying the app’s files; open the app in Finder instead. On Windows, open the downloaded installer; if it was supplied as a ZIP, extract it first and follow the included instructions. Follow the setup prompts.
- Open your license. Follow the activation steps below. A Community account is not required to activate the purchased desktop app.
If a release download is damaged or your computer blocks it, record the exact message and contact support. Do not change your security settings to make a blocked download run.

Open your license.
- Keep your purchase files. Once payment is confirmed, download the original license file, purchase agreement and private purchase-access file. After payment verification, we also send your original license, purchase agreement and terms to your Checkout email address. Download and keep your private purchase-access file separately; it is not attached to the email. If an email is missing, use the purchase-page downloads or contact support rather than paying again.
- Choose Open my license file. This appears on the activation screen. If the editor is already open, choose License & ownership first.
- Select the actual .quiltlicense file. In the file chooser, click the downloaded filename, then click Open. Selecting a folder only navigates into it. Keep the original file extension; a receipt, purchase-access file or quilt project is not a license.
- Keep an independent copy. After activation, save a copy of the license somewhere safe for reinstalling or using your other computers. Activation is local and does not need Community sign-in or internet.
If Open stays disabled, confirm that you have selected the file itself, not its folder. If the app rejects the file, keep the error message and contact support with your order reference. Do not paste the license or purchase-access file into a public post or Community upload.
Which file is which?
- .quiltlicense: unlocks your purchased major version in the app. Keep it private.
- Purchase agreement: your printable purchase record and the terms saved for your order.
- Purchase-access file: restores access to your private order/download page in a browser. It does not activate the app. Anyone holding it can access the purchase; keep it private.
- .quiltstudio / .quiltlibrary: your own design and collection files, created in the app.
